Chair Classes
I offer one community chair class a week in Breckland and West Norfolk at:
Oxborough Village Hall: Tuesdays 15.00-16.30
My community classes are friendly and relaxed. Come along and meet like-minded people! I’ve named this class ‘Move & Mingle’ because it’s an easy-going chair yoga session followed by tea, cake, and good ‘mardle’ (Norfolk dialect for a chat). Dietary requirements can always be accommodated. This gentle class is an excellent way for individuals with mobility challenges to enhance their physical and mental well-being. All movements are performed while seated or with the support of a chair.
I run a four-week cycle of class focus: Week one focuses on awareness, week two on strength, week three on mobility, and week four on balance. This cycle repeats every four weeks, but you can join at any time. Each class incorporates elements of awareness, strength, mobility, and balance, but the specific focus changes weekly, allowing for varied learning experiences. Viewing each focus from different perspectives offers unique insights. Each time we revisit a particular focus, we deepen our experience and knowledge.
Each focus is physical; we look at awareness of body and breath, physical strength, range of physical movement, and physical balance. But it is also more than that. We also consider awareness of thoughts, feelings, and judgments, inner strength, the liberation of thoughts, feelings, and judgments, and mental and spiritual balance. If you want to learn more about my approach to teaching yoga read about my ethos.
There is no obligation to attend every week, but I do ask that you let me know if you’re going to be there. There’s no need to bring anything; just yourself in comfortable clothing.
Classes are £10 per session, which includes tea and cake.
